This situation could not be any more shocking and upsetting, an older couple taking a walk in Redwood City very early on Sunday morning were horrified to find a box of five newborn puppies. The helpless babies were motionless and so quiet that the couple feared they were all dead. One had already passed but by some miracle four of them were still alive,….cold, malnourished, dehydrated and clearly in need of emergency medical care,….but alive.
After being rushed to a vet the four living pups were immediately warmed up in an incubator. They stayed at the vet for a few days so they could get fluids, proper nutrition and be observed and assessed.
Three of them are now in good shape, the smallest one is still a little weaker than the others. Today all four are able to go "home" but they have no real home to go back to.
The older couple who found the puppies fell in love with them and want to foster them, but they are retired and low income. The wife also has a medical condition that prevents her from being vaccinated against Covid so they cannot get assistance from helpers coming into their home, they will have to do all the work of caring for the puppies themselves.
They are very worried about the enormous vet bills and other debt they have already incurred. They can't imagine how they will cover the continuing medical care these beautiful babies will need.
When my neighbors and I heard about this unthinkable situation, We thought that many other neighbors in our community would want to do everything possible to help this couple handle the vet bills so they can stop worrying about money and put their energy into caring for these precious puppies.
Please help if you can, any donation will be appreciated enormously. I will continue to send out regular updates and pictures of these little miracle babies! Please text me if you have any questions.
Thank You
