Abandoned neurological wobbly cat
Please help me support and heal a neurological wobbly cat.
I am looking to cover his vet costs, which so far has been $270 dollars, for just basic meds. Any money afterwards will be for tests, deworming, or any addition meds he will need. In total I would probably like close to $800, but I am trying to take it day by day.
----
The start of this week, a stray cat came into a local shop and was hanging out. It was clearly very well socialized, for it was unbothered by people coming and going. When I approached it, it was very friendly and instantly wanted pets and had no hesitation trusting me, allowing me to pet him, touch his belly and picking him up.
However, his one eye was slightly squinting, ears had the smell of infection, and a runny nose. Most glaring of all was when he started to walk, He has a head tilt and was unbalanced. Later on hanging out with him, he fell.
at first I thought he was just super off balanced from is ears, but after time, (and the next day a vet visit) it seems to be a neurological issue.
My first step was reaching out to the local vet, Who told me to phone the town, and maybe contact the nearest rescue, one town over, 45 minutes away. The town said they would do nothing, and the rescue was sadly full.
I couldnt let him just go, So I took him to my garage and set him up a litter box and some cat food and booked a vet visit for the next day on my break.
he is neutered, very well mannered, has no microchip, did not attempt to scratch or bite as he got his ears swabbed (which was very painful as they are filled with mites and infection). We do think he might be deaf with ruptured eardrums but we cant say for sure till the infection is fought off, and we can actually see them. He is not capable to live on the streets.
I hope to maybe take him in myself, (to be an inside cat,) however I have two cats already and will need to ensure he has no transmittable diseases or parasites before I do. If he has a disease that is transmittable, or does not get along with my cats, I will then put all my effort into finding him a safe home where he ill be an indoor only cat.
He was either born with his wobble, and eventually dumped due to fear of his vet costs, since he was neutered. (we have no current T and R programs in the area, and the ones we did were for small groups) Or maybe ran away, and hit by a car, which then caused the wobble. However with lack of any other injuries, we believe he was dumped.
Thank you, please help me be in this lil guys corner. I will update about vet visits and if he is healing.
