Abandoned in a bag - Help Us Save This Sweet Old Dog
Donation protected
it is with an extremely heavy heart that I have to say that poor little Poppet passed away in my arms in the early hours of Monday 14th July. Beauiful sweet little girl. We didn’t have you for long but we loved you. Thank you for letting us look after you
On Saturday 6th July 2025, during what should have been a normal day out at the Colmore Food Festival in Birmingham, my girlfriend Francesca, my dad John, his partner Penny and I (Edward) experienced something heartbreaking.
We were sat outside a pub when a well-dressed but panicked woman ran over to us, threw a small rucksack onto my lap and said, “Please look after her with your life. I need to find Max.”
Inside that bag was a tiny, terrified, elderly dog.
We waited… but the woman never came back.
We contacted authorities, vets, the RSPCA, local trusts, and rescues – but no one could trace her. CCTV showed nothing useful. Her microchip is from 2011, with no working contact numbers and no registered address.
So now… she’s with us. And we’ve decided to give her the safe, loving home she clearly hasn’t had for a long time.
Her Name is Still Unknown… But Her Personality is Starting to Shine
We don’t know what she’s been through, but we do know this: she’s absolutely adorable.
She’s small, sweet, and full of silent courage. And over the past few days, we’ve started to see glimpses of who she really is:
• She has a soft, tiny bark when she wants attention
• She gently scratches at us for fuss and cuddles
• She’s inquisitive and confident when given space to roam
• She sleeps a lot, shakes constantly, and looks heartbreakingly frail
• She’s toothless (just four bottom teeth remain), has no body fur, and has a dry, sore skin condition
• She refuses food, even chicken, mince, or prescription recovery food
• The vet says her skin and genital issues may be age-related or hormonal—but we need further tests to know for sure
Despite everything, she is still trusting, gentle, and brave.
She’s begun to follow our other dogs, Buster (9) and Teddy (13), as if she’s part of the family already.
Why We’re Asking for Help
We’re doing everything we can—but we need your support.
We’re raising funds to get her the full vet workup and specialist care she urgently needs:
• Bloodwork and scans
• Skin and hormone testing
• Medication if needed
• Nutritional support or appetite help
• Any treatment to keep her comfortable, warm, and pain-free
We aren’t asking for luxuries—just a chance to give her the care she deserves, and a peaceful, loving final chapter after what seems to have been a recent life of neglect.
Every Donation Truly Helps
We didn’t choose her, but she was quite literally placed into our lives—and we know she came to us for a reason.
If you can spare anything, even the cost of a coffee, it will go directly toward her care.
Please help us give her the gentle life she’s missed out on.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and caring.
We’ll keep everyone updated on her journey.
With love and hope,
Edward, Francesca, and our (seemingly growing) dog family
