The moment we realized this horse had been completely abandoned, we didn’t hesitate—we jumped into action to make sure she was safe and cared for.
What began as a routine transport quickly turned into something heartbreaking. When payment for her transport was refused and responsibility for her care was denied, we were told to simply keep her. In that moment, it became clear that she had been left behind with no one willing to step forward for her future.
Standing there and looking at her condition, we knew we could not walk away. She was underweight, her hooves were severely overgrown, some of her shoes were missing, and the ones still attached were loose and causing her discomfort. She needed immediate care, attention, and stability—things every horse deserves but she was suddenly without.
For the past month, she has been in our care, and we have taken every step possible to get her the medical attention she urgently needed. We transported her to a lameness specialist in Tennessee, where she received a full lameness evaluation, X-rays, vaccinations, and a Coggins test to ensure her health and safety.
Following her evaluation, the veterinarian diagnosed her with EPM (Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis), a serious neurological condition that requires ongoing medication and treatment. While this diagnosis was difficult to hear, it gave us answers and a path forward to help her recover.
We are now asking for help from those who believe, like we do, that no horse should be left without care or support. Your support will help us continue providing the specialized medication, veterinary care, nutrition, and safe environment she needs to heal and rebuild her strength.
This horse did not choose her situation, but together, we can choose her future. With your help, we can turn a story of abandonment into one of compassion, recovery, and hope.
If you feel moved to help, whether through a donation or by sharing her story, you become part of giving her the second chance she deserves.
Thank you for standing with us and helping us give this horse the care and future every animal deserves.
