Abandoned elderly dog with suspected Cushing’s Disease

Hi, my name is Sarah and I’m looking to raise some money for the vet care of a little old man who came into my care recently.

The other night the Gardaí arrived to the vet hospital where I work with a Chihuahua cross dog who they had found alone in an apartment for more than 5 days. His owner was recently brought to ICU and is currently in a coma, and has no next of kin. The poor little dog was starving. He’s completely blind, practically deaf, and is showing all of the classic signs and symptoms of Cushing’s Disease - a hormonal disorder which is caused by an excess of cortisol in the body. Cushings can be managed with medication, but patients need regular blood tests which can be quite pricey.

This poor little boy needs lots of love, TLC, and medical care. I’m doing my best for him at the moment, but I can’t keep him long term. I’m hoping that if I can raise money for his vet care, someone will be able to give him a nice home for the rest of his days. According to Gardaí, it’s unlikely that his owner will come out of the coma.
