Help abandoned cats make it thru winter and spayed-neutered

Help support a colony of domesticated abandoned cats
“One meal. One surgery. One life changed.”

A small group in Quincy, IL is working together to help a growing colony of abandoned and feral cats left to survive on their own.
This all began when a local hoarder passed away, and dozens of cats were suddenly turned outside with no food, shelter, or medical care. Since then, their numbers have grown, and they now rely entirely on a few community members to keep them alive. One dedicated woman has personally rehomed more than 20 cats and feeds the colony every day, but with winter here, kittens being born, and several injured cats needing care, the situation has outgrown what one person—or a small group—can carry alone.
These cats didn’t choose this life; they were put here by human circumstances, and now they depend on caring people like you.

Why Your Help Matters Now
There are about 20 cats in this colony, including:
  • 2-3 injured cats (one with a possible broken leg, one with a serious eye issue)
  • Several unspayed females who are still having kittens
  • Friendly cats who could be adopted into loving homes
  • True ferals who need Trap Neuter Return (TNR) and safe outdoor shelter

We’ve managed to get two females spayed, with 12 spay/neuter appointments scheduled for late January, which was the earliest available time given the already-full waiting lists.

Unfortunately, the local Humane Society does not currently have a veterinarian, which means affordable local TNR options are not available. Every single cat we help requires out-of-town appointments, adding extra travel and cost to each surgery or vet visit. Local rescue groups are already full and cannot take in more cats, so this colony is depending on grassroots help.

How Your Donation Will Be Used
100% of your donation goes directly to the cats.
Funds will be used for:
• Spay and neuter surgeries
• Medical care for injured or sick cats
• Food and supplies for daily feeding and basic care
• Materials to build warm, insulated outdoor shelters for winter

Our initial goal is $2,300 to cover the January/February spay/neuter appointments and the immediate medical needs we already know about (there may be others). Every expense will be tracked, and receipts will be stored in a shared online folder so donors can see exactly how funds are used. Your generosity becomes food, warmth, and medical care—not overhead.

Our Long-Term Goal
Our mission is simple and urgent:
Stop the cycle of kittens. Stabilize the colony. Provide safe shelter. Find homes for adoptable cats.

We’re not a formal rescue. We are a small group of community members paying for food, traps, shelters, and vet care out of pocket because we “can’t unsee” their situation and walk away. With your help, we can reach more cats, prevent more suffering, and give every cat in this colony a safer, more humane life.

If you or someone you know might be interested in adopting a friendly cat, please contact us through this campaign. Most of the cats are sweet, social, and would flourish in a forever home.

Every Dollar Changes a Life
• $10–$20 helps feed the colony or covers % of spay/neuter surgery.
• $50 can help toward medication or diagnostics for an injured cat.
• $100+ can sponsor a full spay/neuter and vaccines for one cat.

No amount is too small. One meal can keep a cat going. One surgery can stop generations of kittens from being born into hardship. One act of kindness can change a life.

Thank you for caring about these forgotten cats. With your support, we can give them safety, stability, and the humane future they deserve.
