ABANDON ALL HOPE World Premiere Off-Broadway!

Donation protected
Hi there!

We are playwright Peter Fenton and actor Avery Kellington—we are the producers behind Peter Fenton's dramedy play, Abandon All Hope! Of the hundreds of script submissions to the Rogue Theater Festival 2023, we were one of the six shows selected for a live performance in Theatre Row on 42nd Street in New York City—an official Off-Broadway venue! This will be both of our theatrical debuts in New York City, let alone Off-Broadway! We could not be more ecstatic to start putting this show together—for real—for the very first time.

Abandon All Hope is a full-length dramedy appropriate for audiences aged 14 and up. When three college freshmen (a scrappy feminist, a naïve evangelical, and a cocky logistician) meet in Hell—which appears as a dorm room—they are forced to play a game with eternal stakes, which draws out each one's fatal flaws in their interactions with each other and a fun-loving demon. The winner will go to Heaven at the cost of the other two’s eternal torture. The themes explored in this play include ethics and moral codes, evangelical Christianity (both critical of and sympathetic toward), LGBTQ identity, and redemption. Shows with similar vibes include HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL, KNIVES OUT, and THE GOOD PLACE.

Avery Kellington will originate the role of fun-loving demon TERESA in the world premiere of Abandon All Hope Off-Broadway.

Abandon All Hope will run for one performance on Saturday, June 10th, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Theatre Row as part of the 4th Annual Rogue Theater Festival. We need to raise $5,500.00* to make this happen in the very best way. After GoFundMe takes their cut, the remaining $5,000.00 will be matched by a generous donor and the entire budget will go toward:

  • Covering the dues to participate in the festival
  • Stipends for Producers to travel to NYC and take time off their day jobs to organize the show
  • Stipends for Director, Stage Manager, Actors, and Other Crew lending their talent and vision to the show
  • Housing for the Company in New York City for two nights
  • Printing and framing the large, looming photographs overlooking the set
  • Sourcing all other props, set pieces, and costume pieces

We have whole careers ahead of us. This is a huge step forward, and we have the rest of our lives to keep building. We have talent, tenacity, and an undeterred spirit that's carrying us from New Hope, PA and Atlanta, GA to Off-Broadway in New York City. We've got everything except the $5,000.00 to make it happen—but our hope springs eternal. Thank you so much for your time and consideration to contribute toward a lifelong dream!

We'll see you in New York!
