The Staff of Astoria Bier & Cheese on Broadway and Milk & Hops Ramen Bar Need Your Help!
If you don't know them, they're a hearty crew of beer loving, cheese eating, storytelling, kind ear listening folks.
They're from 19 different states and countries. They're bartenders and servers, cheesemongers and cooks, aspiring cicerones and actors, comedians and bakers, and Parents. The staff is 29 people, with 13 children, 8 cats and 2 dogs.
And they've had their hours cut to a fraction of what they were because of COVID-19.
I know, I'm the one who had to do it.
My name is Maxfield Raynolds, and I am the general manager of Milk & Hops Ramen Bar, before I was a manger at Milk & Hops, I was a cheesemonger at Astoria Bier & Cheese.
I know these people, I know they are good people, hard working and honest.
I had to cut hours because otherwise there was no way to stay open as a business, and to continue to pay them what little I am able.
We have little idea how long this will last or when it will end, but I'd very much like to raise enough money to support these good people for the next 4 weeks.
That's what the target represents. The average pay the staff receives over the course of that time span. It at least gives them a chance, and gives us a chance to keep these good people in our employee and available to help you.
100% of the money will go to the staff. 100% of the money will be divided amongst staff with reduced hours and reduced tips in an attempt to give them back the income that has been lost due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
While some will be eligible for unemployment as a result of the reduction of hours, we all know that won't nearly compensate for the lost income even if it shows up in a timely manner.
Please give whatever you can to help support your favorite bartender, your favorite cheesemonger, or you favorite ramen cook.
I promise that whatever you give, Erin, Dale, Scout, Kristin, Kevin, Ryan, Daniel, Mike, Raul, Josh, Sharmin, Pierre, Carlos, Alex, Amanda, Antoine, Daniel, Jamie, Justin, Kenny, Kevin, Kevin, Sarah, Thomas, Maxfield, and Yang all sincerely thank you.
