With the heaviest of hearts I regrettably update you with the news of Emily’s passing last night. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
I know I speak for many when I offer my sincerest condolences to Lee, Glen, Sarah and the extended Smith family.
Thank you all so, so much for your incredible generosity in supporting this GoFundMe campaign, the community response has been truly amazing.
The run will go ahead as planned this Saturday, in loving memory of Emily.

Hi everyone,
As most of you know, Emily has been bravely fighting against brain cancer since 2020. The past few months in particular, have been extremely challenging for Em and her family as her condition has been palliative since November last year.
Emily's mother Lee has been off work acting as her superhuman full-time carer, whilst her father Glenn and sister Sarah, have been rocks in her incredible support team. It goes without saying that this is an enormously difficult time for Em's whole family.
Owing to the amazing support and generosity shown in previous GoFundMe campaigns, Em's mobility and comfort at home was greatly improved with the purchase of an adjustable electric bed and chair. Em and her family were extremely appreciative of this however said equipment did not come cheap.
I'm attempting to run 100kms on Saturday 04/02/2023 around Melbourne's western suburbs to raise funds for Em and the Smith family's ongoing fight. It would mean the world to me if you could once again show your support for this cause. No donation is too small, every bit counts!
If you'd like to join me on the shoelace express feel free to reach out, I'd love some company out there.
Em's sister - Sarah Smith, will be the recipient of any funds raised on behalf of the Smith family.
Thanks in advance for your generosity :)
