Chris Soltez's Path to Recovery & Hope Continues...

Donation protected

On the morning of September 15th, just 6 days before their 23rd wedding anniversary my sister Jeanine and Brother-in-Law Chris Soltez lives forever changed. I received a call from my sister that she found Chris outside unresponsive, and he was being taken by an ambulance to Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, De. Chris suffered a bilateral Thalamus stroke and was in a coma for the next 9 days. Due to the severity and location of this stroke, things were touch and go early on in his recovery. If you have ever met my Brother-in-law, than you know Chris is a tenacious fighter and he is powering through his therapy! it’s a miracle Chris is here with us today!

In mid-October after surviving pneumonia, sepsis and kidney failure Chris recovered enough to have a procedure for a feeding tube so that he could be transferred to Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital. Chris is undergoing an intense rehabilitation regime to learn how to retrain his brain to walk, talk, and eat amongst other things. This has been a slow and gradual process to rebuild his strength and retrain his body. Jeanine has been his rock and by his side every single step of the way. I’m in awe of them both.

As you can imagine, upon his release from the hospital, many changes will need to occur to make their home suitable for his ongoing recovery. Ramps and chair lifts will need to be installed and adjustments to the floor plan to make their home a conducive environment for Chris to heal and thrive.

As we approach the holiday season, I’m asking you to share this post far and wide. If you have a little extra to spare on this giving Tuesday, please consider making a small donation to my sister and my brother-in-law, Jeanine and Chris Soltez.
