Help Makayla get back on her feet.

18 year old Makayla Reddick is a senior at Deer Creek High School this year. She does well in school and participates in the Robotics program at the Vo-Tech, planning to be an Engineer someday. She has an amazing smile and an enthusiasm for life. She has been a big sister to her own siblings and has taken that role with cousins, friends and various other young souls for whom her sweet parents provide love and a place to live. That generosity of her Mom and Dad is reflected in Makayla’s own relationships with people. She is loyal and loving and a little mischievous. Her Mom has always referred to her as her “blue eyed angel”.

On Thursday, September 3rd, Makayla was driving home from school and was hit by another car. She had to be airlifted by helicopter to Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Initially, her family and friends were told to prepare for the worst. She is now stable, but will be facing a recovery that is overwhelming at best. Her liver is damaged, a kidney is damaged and she has numerous fractures. She has had internal bleeding, which they believe is under control now. Her pelvis was shattered. That’s right…shattered. It doesn’t take too much knowledge of anatomy to know that it will be a significant amount of time before she is even able to walk again. That will require major surgery and bed rest for a lengthy amount of time. The weight of the prognosis is beyond measurement to Makayla…and to her parents, Melanie and Jeff Reddick.
