No child should ever have to see their mother endure so much pain. For those who know Mel, know she hasn't had any biological children of her own. You would also know that she (and Haine) have taken care of and raised so many kids as her own, including me. I am Mel's youngest sibling, and because my parents were always working, Mel watched, fed, and cared for me as her own. Mel has loved so many others as her own, and now she is battling for her life, in need of love and support as she battles cancer.
For years now, Mel has had stomach and digestive issues. What she thought had been the regular stomach ache from eating acidic foods recently turned into unbearable stomach pains. After several trips to the ER, she was told that she had ulcers and received medication to help with the pain. A few months later, the symptoms had worsened, and after another visit to the ER, she was scheduled for several tests and scans. Those tests revealed that Mel has Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer.
Mel has chosen to fight, and we, as her family, are supporting her through this fight. Although Mel and Haine would never ask for help, we know this will be an uphill battle physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. Mel and Haine are the first to give and are always there for others in their time of need, and we now have the opportunity to support them. It is never comfortable to ask for money, but we know anything you can give will go a long way as Mel and Haine pay for treatment and care during this time.
Thank you for giving and supporting our mother, sister, daughter, and friend.
