Help with Anne Marie's medical expenses

Our friend Anne Marie has been having a pretty rough go of things lately.  

Last year at this time her little family launched on an adventure to travel the globe and be nomads for the year, with the incredible opportunity to live and work in Spain. However, in October -on the day after her 46th birthday- she ended up having a severe heart attack and was in the hospital for 2 weeks. She died for more than a minute while her family looked on and her defibrillator shocked her heart back to life. She is alive now because of the treatment she received in hospital, but due to her pre-existing condition, insurance will not pay her $26,000 medical bill.

She has suffered from atrial fib + congestive heart failure for over 4 years and lived with a genetic condition (cardiomyopathy) all of her life. She has had several surgeries and countless doctor's visits, with many difficult days. And still she pushes herself daily to live life to the fullest and provide for her family. She is an amazing mom to a pretty spectacular 12 year old son, who very much needs to have his Mom around. 

She has a stellar medical team, the love of family and friends, and great support. But she also has a long road with many challenges ahead, the biggest one of them being a heart transplant, which is lifesaving, inevitable and will be a costly endeavor as she recovers and cannot work. 

In the time between now and transplant time, Anne Marie has to make sure that her body and mind are regulated, and stress can be a huge strain to a person's heart. Her doctor’s appointments are weekly and almost a full time job in themselves. Anne-Marie is self-employed and is mostly commission-based, and her family relies on her income.  

Anne Marie has always been the kind of friend who is there when you need her, she’s a Mom, partner, sister, daughter, inspiring business woman, queer ally…the list goes on and on. This is our opportunity to rally around her and to repay even just a little bit of her kindness.
