Aaron's Probably Too High - A Thesis Film

Aaron Is Probably Too High is my Thesis Film in my senior year at the University of The Arts. I’ve had this idea for a long while and I think it’s about time for me to make it come to life. I’m here now asking for help to make this short film the best version it can be for both the biggest project of my college career, but also your viewing pleasure!

About The Film:

“Aaron, aided by an alarming amount of THC, interrogates party guests to solve the mystery of a missing dog. When a puppy’s in peril, the game is afoot.”

My thesis deals with friendship, loss, betrayal, mystery, and weed. Lots of it. With this film, I wanted to harken back to both “stoner comedies” and classic Sherlock Holmes detective stories, while also making something that is my own. It is one part “whodunnit?” One part cringe-comedy, and one part absurdity. Most importantly, I just want to make you laugh! Who doesn’t love to laugh? This film is something I’ve been working hard on and I’m really proud of what I’ve been making thus far. I’d love for you to be a part of it too, whether it be through this GoFundMe or just your support during its production!

As for the “inspiration” department, I think I was most inspired visually by shows like Netflix’s “I Am Not Okay With This” and Showtime’s “Kidding.” In terms of my writing/tone, I would have to say Juno (2007) and Cabin In The Woods (2011) influenced me a lot (Very similar films, I know). If any of these interest you, I’d hope you’re now interested in my work. And if not, give me a chance anyway!

About Me:

Hello! I’m Cole, an aspiring director in my senior year at The University of the Arts. Nearing the end of high school, art, music, and movies were a large part of my life, but I felt stuck. There was no career path I felt comfortable with. But then I remembered that movies don’t appear out of thin air. People make them. Many people, from many different walks of life, for many different reasons. I am just one of those people, trying to have their art be seen, heard and if I’m lucky, liked. :)

How the money will be used:

Movies are not cheap! This is a 15-minute film primarily filmed in a basement and it still requires a lot of time, effort, labor, crew members, actors, food, etc.

That being said, I specifically need to have:

- Food for my cast and crew. You can’t make a movie on an empty stomach!

- Props/Wardrobe/Set decoration. The characters are written not only to act a certain way, but to look a certain way, occupy a certain space, and interact with key items.

- Travel. Ideally, every actor/crew member should be compensated for gas and/or public transportation fees while they are working for me.

- Festival entries. I want this film to reach as wide of an audience as it can, and sending to so many festivals starts to add up.
