Aaron's Last Stand

Donation protected

In April 2020 Aaron Turner was having a hard time threading a nut onto a bolt with his right hand and a year later he was diagnosed with ALS, a progressive muscle deteriorating disease that is threatening his life. And there is no cure (to learn more about ALS go to: https://www.als.org/understanding-als).

Aaron is the father of two boys, Darren, 16 and Denver, 21. All the time growing up, they have enjoyed countless trips to the outdoors, and he has volunteered as a Scoutmaster leading epic backpacking trips for The Boy Scouts for over ten years. And he hasn't stopped exploring new places to enjoy nature. Until now.

A 25-year veteran of the bike industry, Aaron has managed three local Seattle shops and, thanks to his good nature and bike mechanic skills, has developed a faithful following. He has been an active racer in the road and cyclocross community for the last 20 years. Today, Aaron has nearly lost the use of both of his arms, forcing him to “retire” at the age of 49 from doing these things he has held so dear.

Aaron has always taken care of those around him, pulling out an extra burrito on a hike, building a fire for people to gather, or having something extra, whatever seemed to be needed in the moment. Let’s take care of Aaron now. Your donations will go to pay for his medical bills, helping him get in home care he needs now and eventually, as this disease takes hold of his body, the medical equipment he will need in the future.
