My name is Aaron Wargo. I've been attending Chestnut Ridge Church in Morgantown, WV for almost 3 years now, and have been volunteering for almost 18 months. Becoming a member of this church has changed my life. Many people there have had positive influences on me, my life, and my faith journey. Thanks to those people, along with many others, I was able to go on last year’s mission trip, which was my first. The impact it has had on my life is indescribable; I’ll just say I “caught the fever.” It wasn’t until after the trip I realized it wasn’t for the people there; it was for me. I’ve made lasting friendships with the amazing people from there, many of whom I still talk with on Skype & Facebook Messenger almost daily. I would love to keep giving back and helping our sister church, Iglesia Gran Comision, which is located in La Ceiba, Honduras, in any way possible. This trip is scheduled from July 23rd to July 30th of 2017.

Here's a little bit about me: After growing up Catholic and years of being away from church, my now ex-wife convinced me to attend a service at Chestnut Ridge Church. At first, I was a little apprehensive, as it was completely different than what we were both accustomed to; however, what the pastor had to say really seemed to resonate. It wasn't until my marriage crumbled in late 2015 & 2016 that I realized I can't do it, 'it' meaning life, by myself anymore. I realized I needed something or someone greater to lean on, not only in times of struggle, but in times of happiness. I've finally realized I need God to not only be a part of my life, but my foundation. Unfortunately, it took losing my wife, her family, and the life we shared for me to realize that.

During this trip, I will be helping local contractors build cinder block homes, building furniture for the homes, providing health care to those in need, helping teens learn vocational skills, and providing meals, education, after school daycare, and more. I would love the opportunity to help these people in any way possible, and of course, I need help with that! That's where you come in. I am responsible to raise AT LEAST $1,750 by July 1st, 2017. This money will be used to pay for transportation and travel to and from Honduras, necessary vaccinations prior to the trip, and purchasing tools and other supplies after arrival. I ask that you all please consider giving anything you are willing to give, which is tax-deductible, as it would mean so much to me to be able to help these families that are far less fortunate than anyone reading this. If you are unable to give, your prayers for the safety of those traveling, for the money needed to be raised, and for the families in need are very much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this! For more information on this year’s trip, please CLICK HERE!
