I recently learned I have Fabrys Disease which is attacking my kidneys. This is a genetic condition that I’m very fortunate to have discovered early. Though Fabrys Disease can be arrested I will require a kidney a transplant immediately!
I need a donor to step forward so that this can happen, and I need funding because I’m a musician with very limited health benefits, plus help donors with any costs.
Because a person can live with one kidney, having the donation come from a living donor offers the best choice for life. After donation, the donor’s remaining kidney will enlarge, doing the work of 2 healthy kidneys. If there’s any danger the donor will not be accepted.
A kidney from a living donor would offer me an alternative to lengthy time on the national transplant waiting list, years of dialysis, and the possibility of continuing to play the drums. My wife, five children, our band, and I are hoping for a miracle.
