Mr. Thursday Night Has Left The Building
Has anyone noticed how the past few Thursday Nights are just a little more empty and bleak? Does it seem like that special spark… some basic joy seems to have left the world?
Dear friends, you are not mistaken. It is with heavy hearts that we report that Mr. Thursday Night… beloved friend, brother, son & father, Aaron Mario Fenzi… has been called to Heaven to join his father.
Death, the coward, came for him while he was sleeping; for if Aaron had been awake, we all know that there would have been a truly epic fight—and the smart money would have been on the Wrestler.
Performer
Aaron is known by many as the bigger-than-life personality, “Mr. Thursday Night”. Whether it was performing in the ring, singing Karaoke, or just standing in line, no one worked a crowd like the King of all Thursday Nights. As local legend has it, Aaron still holds the Hoboken record for singing, “Danger Zone” six times… until he was finally removed from stage for exceeding too many Loggins attempts.
Aaron’s singing feats were not limited to Karaoke. He and his dear friend Mark once learned to sing the entire Valjean/Javier Confrontation scene from Les Misérables to uncork at random public outings. But their budding thespian stardom was tragically cut short by a dispute as to who could play the better villain, the Pro Wrestler or the Management Consultant.
Sportsman
A lifelong Jets fan, Aaron was never bereft on advice of how the franchise should have been run. Aaron’s friends respectfully request six NFL Jets to be his pallbearers just so his beloved Jets can let him down one last time. In return, his dear friend Mark agrees to bet heavily against the Jets just so they are (at least historically speaking) guaranteed a win.
Anyone who met Aaron marveled at his Encyclopedic knowledge of sports & entertainment trivia. At the ESPN bar in Manhattan, his friends once witnessed a sports trivia contest which he dominated so thoroughly, the entire affair was reduced to just finding all of the most obscure questions to ask Aaron. He answered them all.
Casanova
Every girl has three guys in her life: the one she loves, the one she hates, and the one she can’t live without. But for many girls, Aaron was all three.
Aaron was a man with a lot of love to give the world. And he was someone constantly working on himself and looking for ways to be a better version of himself to the people he loved. The great loves of his life know who they are. Others seeking to leverage his passing to make themselves more popular on social media or to perpetuate their own personal dramas at the expense of Aaron’s loved ones, know who they are as well.
Perhaps, it is enough to say that Aaron loved not wisely but all too well. Or perhaps, we can just fall back to when Aaron used to channel Frank Sinatra, and say “Hell hath no fury like a hooker with a press agent”. (And might we add a Facebook Account)
Protagonist
Aaron was always fiercely anti-bully and always stood ready to defend the underdog. In his time, he stood up for friends with stalking Exes, bullies seeking to victimize people at parties, and once even helped a waitress relocate in order to get away from her mobster boyfriend out of the kindness of his heart.
In almost all cases, his cocky charm and rock solid confidence were enough to ward off no-good-niks. For all of the other cases, his mighty thews were sufficient deterrent. But let it never be said that Aaron was not merciful. One occasion typical of many, Aaron pointed out to his 6 attackers that it would not be a fair fight…. And invited them to call a few friends to bolster their numbers. They accepted his mercy and declined to fight at all.
The Man, the Myth, the Legend
What Aaron lacked in social etiquette, he compensated with an over-abundance of charisma, charm and sheer feistiness. He was more manly than Hemingway, more hetero than Richard Chamberlain, and had more panache than Cyrano.
Aaron Fenzi was a legend.
Aaron Fenzi was my friend.
Aaron Fenzi was our loved one.
Aaron Fenzi will be badly missed.
Aaron is survived by a son & daughter who he loved dearly, and a devoted set of family and friends who find new ways to miss him every day.
All funds raised will be administered by his life-long friend Mark Gleason and will be wholly used to defray funeral expenses with the remainder to be allocated towards the Cancer Care medical expenses of Aaron’s immediate family.
Aaron cannot be here to care for his Mother and family. But we, his friends, can help care for his ailing family, like he would have.
If Aaron ever brought a smile to your face, a rueful chuckle to your heart, or ever inspired you to do something better or different… dig deep friends…and donate to honor his legacy.
