Please help Aaron as he deals with FAP and Cancer

Hi, I’m Katie and this handsome man is my husband Aaron! Aaron has Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), and Gardners Syndrome.

Familial adenomatous polyposis is a rare genetic mutation of the Adenomatous Polyposis Coli (APC) gene. FAP causes an over growth of Colon Polyps that have a 100% chance of turning in to cancer. Gardners syndrome is a rare variant of FAP, that can cause tumors also. Desmoid tumors are the most common with this variant , theses tumors grow around the organs. Desmoids can be shrunk down and controlled with chemotherapy, and other prescriptions.

Aaron was told that he had thousands of polyps in his colon and would need it removed. This is a two part surgery. Surgery one will consist of the removal of his Colon and the set up of a J-Pouch. A J-pouch is a pouch made from the small intestine that will hold stool, so it can be eliminated normally. Aaron will have an Ostomy bag for a few weeks to let everything heal properly and make sure there are no leaks. Surgery two will be where the small intestines is connected back to together and there is no longer and Ostomy bag. While Aaron has no Tumors at the moment, they could be a concern in the future.

Aaron will be out of work without pay for awhile, and will have multiple doctors appointments and CT scans. I can’t tell you enough how wonderful this man is! Aaron has always been there for our four kids and myself. When I had to work 12’s, he would take the kids to school, cook dinner, and have homework all done by the time I came home all while he worked also. He has been my rock for the last 15 years! I’m asking for help because I alone can’t carry our family. I don’t want him to worry about us, I just want him to focus on himself for once and get better.
