Aaron Basso and His wife Kathy have been
together for 22 years. They moved their large family down to Oliver not knowing anyone.
Wanted a better life for
their kids..

They have a 2 year old, a 3 year old, an almost 4 year old, twin 5 year olds, a 6 year old, 9 year old and an 18 year old in the home.
The 6 year old is their great nephew & the 9
year old is their granddaughter.
The others they are just in the process of
adopting but have had them all since birth.

They also have a son who passed away 1.5
years ago. And a daughter grown and living in Prince George.  Aaron and Kathy built a life together fostering many babies together. He is
now a correctional officer working at the
Okanagan Correctional Centre providing a
positive influence for his community.

On Feb 13 Aaron had an incident at work
where he received bad concussion.
Things started to change around this time. He started to lose memory and only went back to work for 2 blocks. He said his head seemed
" fuzzy". It was related to the concussion. But
things started to decline very rapidly. He was
forgetting more often and he was having some balance issues. He generally had a blank kind
of look on his face. They seeked medical
advice and had blood work done.... but they
were told that these things just take time.

After that Aaron started falling over and was
very unsteady on his feet.  They took him to
emergency room 3 times and kept being sent home. Finally their 18 year old daughter was a strong advocate and She insisted this wasn’t
her dad, and wouldn’t leave with him like this.
They finally did more tests and came to the
conclusion  that there was a large mass
growing on his brain.

Doctors said that it was probably there for
awhile and that maybe the concussion had
accelerated the condition.
This was the most devastating first hit of
tragic news they received... but they tried to
remain positive

Unfortunately the news just kept getting
worse. We now know he has a lymphoma deep within his brain. A biopsy was preformed but Operating was not an option. He is now on a
steroid to start hopefully shrinking down the mass and On Monday he starts a 3 month
every two week dose of chemotherapy.
They are hoping he will respond well and that they can keep him safe from germs and viruses with as little side affects as possible.
This all will happen where he currently staying at the Kelowna hospital cancer clinic.
He will then have go to Vancouver for another major chemo treatment.

The family can only try to hang on to any
positive hope for a loving husband,  father and
provider all while constantly being reminded
by the professionals of the " bad" things.

“We just want our daddy home” (kids)

Sadly through this they have only been
allowed to see him once due to covid
restrictions.

Aaron is the primary financial provider for the family and now will be off work indefinitely
fighting to come home to his family. Any help
you can give to this family would be so greatly appreciated in this uncertain time. Please
give!
