I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my brother Aaron Hodgins Davis and his daughter Luciana. Aaron and Luci lost nearly everything in a house fire Wednesday night 6/28/23. That home tucked away off Western Highway was an adapted stable full of spiders and cobwebs and poorly routed plumbing when Aaron discovered it and turned it into a cozy and welcoming space to raise Luci six years ago as a newly single dad. Aaron and Luci spent a pandemic there playing basketball out front in the summer and taking breaks from online school to play ice hockey in the flooded backyard in the winter. Luci and Aaron turned the upstairs loft into Luci's kingdom. Aaron launched his mushroom farm Hodgins Harvest from the living room and squeezed motion graphics work from home in between making batches of grow kits and tinctures. The fire on Wednesday destroyed all their personal belongings and most of Aaron's business materials. Luckily no one was harmed, but the losses are devastating. Aaron is still sorting out what their most immediate needs are and what can wait. It is clear that they will need funds for replacing their entire household and making plans for the future.
Our goal is to raise money for them to allow Aaron flexibility in replacing the essentials as soon as possible and finding a new living situation for him and Luci before the school year begins. The $40,000 goal is a shot in the dark, which is both an enormous ask of our community and barely a start on what they would need to rebuild their lives and the farm in the greater NYC area. Please give as you are able and share widely with anyone who knows and loves these two or Hodgins Harvest. Thank you for your care in these dark moments.
