After learning that hunger kills more people annually than malaria, tuberculosis, and AIDS combined, I decided to act. The organization Stop Hunger Now has packaged and delivered over 200 million meals to starving people across the world. One in nine people go to bed hungry every night. That is a horrifying statistic that we, as a community, can change.
I will be hosting a Meal Packaging Event this May at my high school, Mount Mercy Academy. It costs only $0.29 to package each meal. The meals contain rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, and a packet of 23 essential vitamins and minerals. They are easily shipped and have a shelf life of two years.
In order to host an event, I need enough money to package a minimum of 10,152 meals. While $0.29 is an extremely low price, the meals add up quickly, and I will need to raise approximately $3,000, but I can't do it alone. Please join me in the fight against world hunger. Every donation will make the world of difference in the life of a hungry child. Together we can change lives and help create a world without hunger.
