We are fundraising for our wonderful friend, comrade and community member, who is pregnant with a rapidly approaching due date! We are very excited to welcome baby Parker into the world, and we ask you to join us in giving them the best start together as a family.
In Jack’s own words:
“Hi, I'm Jack (he/they) and I'm a 27 year old non-binary trans man who became pregnant this year. I have also been a sex worker for a decade, which is a job that does not provide parental leave. Despite trying to secure a more stable income before becoming pregnant and believing I had, my income outside of sex work fell through after a union dispute and the closure of my workplace when I was already heavily pregnant, meaning I lost my entitlement to maternity pay. (More information on that here).
This pregnancy has been very difficult for me. Beyond dysphoria, I have had various health issues throughout it and multiple scares that I would delivery prematurely. At the time of writing this I have made it to full-term and expect to deliver any day. I have no financial safety net and no access to any kind of post-partum leave. In addition to this, I am only a permitted occupier rather than a tenant at my current address which prohibits me from even claiming government benefits that could cover my rent.”
Anybody who has met Jack, or been reached by their work, knows what a powerhouse and positive force in this world he is. Besides this, Jack is also an excellent writer - you can see his work and purchase their books here.
Whilst Jack intends to return to work as soon as he is ready to, any funds raised will support Jack and baby to spend those vital first few months together with the baby, and give their body enough time to recover from what has been a stressful pregnancy. They have worked tirelessly in aid of their community, and it’s time we show the community care that both Jack and the baby deserve.
In these times of transphobia, criminalisation and censorship of sex workers, and the violence of the state against working class people, it is more important than ever that we show up in solidarity. One way to do this is through mutual aid, and we ask you to share this fundraiser with anybody who shares our values and goals for liberation.
This baby is incredibly lucky, to be the child of such a formidable person, and to be born to such a loving community of care. We are inviting you to have a role in this child’s life, as a part of their community, and this is a unique opportunity to enact these values in their life from their very birth, by showing up for them now.
With love, and always solidarity, from
Jack, Baby Parker, The Peoples Letters, and friends <3
