Please help heal Cheyenne. She is a Border Collie who was in a shelter in California, the shelter contacted Border Collie Rescue in Nevada who took her in. Cheyenne is incredibly sweet and loving but also very high energy and absolutely fixated on sheep. As we've done with other dogs before her, we agreed to foster her to give her some herding training, with the eventual goal of finding her a home where she would get to do what she loves most: herd sheep.
Unfortunately, just as her training was starting to move forward, she became very sick. She had a fever of over 107° and nearly died! A lot of intensive care and many tests later, we learned she had a fungal infection, so with the help of some very powerful anti-fungal meds she is now feeling much better.
Needless to say, the emergency and hospital care to save Cheyenne did not come cheaply. Her total bill came to about $1500 and she may not be quite out of the woods yet, depending on what happens after she finishes her course of the medication (we still don't know exactly what specific disease she has). The shelter that found her and the rescue people that sent her to us have very kindly helped, but we still need about $1200 to pay her bills. We live on a small sheep farm; expenses on this level are more than we can absorb, so we are asking for help from you who love dogs and love seeing near-tragedy turn into healing. We will appreciate tremendously any help we can get! Many thanks from us and from Cheyenne!
