On Wednesday evening our Director of Admissions, Nicole Gentles, at the Pembroke Pines Campus lost her 17 year old daughter unexpectedly . Funds are needed to help pay for the funeral and expenses. Below is Aaliyah's Obituary.
Aaliyah Joi Iman Blackwell, 17, of Dearborn Michigan went home to be with the Almighty God on Wednesday, May 29, 2018 at her home in Miami, FL. Aaliyah (Leelee), was an amazing gift, born on September 3rd, 2001. She was a bundle of joy that overcame many obstacle, yet she captured many hearts with her glorious smile, positive personality and her big beautiful eyes. Aaliyah and her mother first moved to Florida in 2003, moved away to New Jersey for a short time returning to Florida in 2015. Aaliyah was a member of Emet Global Ministries and in 2018 she gave her life to the lord. She was baptized on September 29th, 2018 in Altoona, FL at the Alexander Springs. Aaliyah had a profound knowledge and love of animals. Her favorite animal was a bird, the penguin. Aaliyah loved inspiring others with her own life story and in 2013 started to record inspirational segments on what she called “The Aaliyah Channel”. Survivors include loving mother Nicole Gentles-Blackwell, Grandmother Daisy Stewart, Grandfather Edgar Gentles, loving siblings Preston Blackwell Jr. (Brother), John Medeiros (brother), Cecelia Cooper (sister) and God Parent Sean Sewell. Predeceased by Preston Blackwell (Father) and Jason Blackwell (Brother). She also left behind aunts uncles, and cousins.
