This is my amazing 10-year-old niece Aaliyah. Aaliyah is from Pontiac, Michigan but has relocated to Florida for the past 3 years to have better educational opportunities.
Back in Pontiac, Aaliyah was faced with many different issued within her school district. With classes being overcrowded, to unruly students, to limited availability to books and learning materials just to name a few. All these things caused learning to be incredibly challenging.
My husband and I were able to bring Aaliyah to Florida to try to help her find better educational choices. Since being here Aaliyah has just blossomed! She is now an honor roll student, member of several groups and organizations. Including dance, sign language, sewing and cooking just to name a few.
She has now been accepted to the prestigious Florida Prep Academy in Melbourne Florida. Aaliyah will be starting 6th grade and she is extremely excited. Here Aaliyah will have the chance to be part of a great science and technology program that she so desperately wants to be a part of. Even though she has received scholarships we are still short on what she needs to attend this Summer/Fall session.
We are raising money to pay her activity fees and the remaining balance on her tuition.
Aaliyah has the support of her family, her current teacher and administration of Palm Bay Academy, her new family at Florida Prep and a host of other friends and neighbors that want to see her exceed.
