Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. My name is Topher, and I am a survivor of domestic abuse. In the process of removing myself from the toxic situation, I acquired the abusers 2 dogs as survivors of his toxic behavior as well. I have been living a minimalistic lifestyle on a school bus a total of 5 rescue dogs since April. I am homeless by societal definition, but I am super blessed to have a reliable roof over our heads. Less some recent unfortunate events, the herd and I have been successful in our healing journey.

For any of you who are aware of the abusers identity, I ask you approach him with the same love, compassion, patience and the same gentility you would an abused puppy. He is a victim of abuse and suffers from undiagnosed PTSD. None of this is to drag another suffering human and my patience with him came from love. My self love journey has taken total charge now. I hope his does someday as well.

The relationship officially ended on Mother’s Day 2020 when said abuser went on a tirade of physical violence, not only beating me up with closed fists, but choking the life out of me to the point I had bruising around my neck for the following week. The relationship ending, however, did not afford me the luxury of a safe living space, alone until August. Anyone who has tried to navigate their way out of the grip of an abuser knows it is never as easy as just leaving - especially with animals involved.

I made the fatal mistake of allowing said abuser to manipulate his way back into the bus with us. A week ago, he disclosed a common cold to the school he is attending and they immediately quarantined him for Covid. I allowed him to quarantine on the bus, in hopes all the time away had helped his healing journey and spending time with dogs is always healing. Long story short, he bled me dry, and after fabricating a tirade out of thin air, got physically violent again.

In and of itself, I was taking care of myself and the dogs fine until I got injured at work on 11/17. Upon disclosure of my injury to management, I was promptly fired and nothing was followed according to workers compensation. I have been forced to file an OHSA retaliation complaint and am waiting workers comp attorneys to help get my injuries treated. Things have been a series of unfortunate events but life happens.

This go fund me is my humble way of asking for help from those who believe in what I am doing in the world while I need a little help in bridging a gap to get by. I want to make sure I don’t run out of dog food, treats, poop bags etc, and I also need some help removing myself from the abuser’s phone plan. The bus is currently stationary, as she needs an overhaul of the oil system and I would like to better secure the bus as he is aware of my location. I greatly appreciate any networking help towards diesel mechanics willing to teach as well.
