My name is Chalise Walls. I am a 38-year-old mother of four, a small business owner, and a singer/songwriter. I have always worked hard to provide for my family and to show my children that no matter how hard life gets, we can always rise again.
On September 2nd, 2025, our lives were shattered. We were moving from Vallejo to Oakland to begin a new chapter. Everything we owned — our clothes, furniture, my work equipment, our children’s school supplies, and the belongings that held our memories — was packed into a U-Haul truck.
That night, when our storage unit closed early, we had no choice but to park the U-Haul across from my boyfriend’s barbershop. He stayed up almost the whole night to keep watch, but in the early hours of the morning, while we slept, the unthinkable happened.
When I stepped outside around 7 AM, the truck — and everything inside — was gone. Just like that, our entire world disappeared.
My children lost all of their clothes, their beds, their toys, and the little things that made them feel safe. I lost not only our home items and the tools that keep my small business alive, but also our most important documents — all of our birth certificates, Social Security cards, and immunization records. We are now starting over with nothing, even stripped of the papers that prove who we are.
It feels like the rug has been pulled from under us, and we are left standing in the wreckage, trying to breathe.
But even through the tears, I refuse to let this be the end of our story. My children are watching me, and I need them to see that even when life knocks us down, love, faith, and community can lift us back up.
That is why I am reaching out with a humbled and heavy heart, asking for your help. Any donation, no matter how small, will go toward replacing our most basic necessities — clothes, bedding, shoes, school supplies, and the things my children need just to feel whole again.
If you cannot give, please consider sharing our story. Every prayer, every kind word, every act of support matters.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping us find hope in the middle of heartbreak.
With love and gratitude,
Chalise Walls & Family
