By God's grace and blessings we have acquired a land in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu to build a temple. The goal of this fundraiser is to raise money for making the idols that are required for this temple.
About the location:
- This land that we purchased is located at Swami Malai town which is part of Kumbakonam district in Tamil Nadu.
- The land is located right by Kaveri river under a 100+ year old Ashwatha tree surrounded by lots of other trees and nature serene setting.
Also this land is on the 79 degree longitude along which 12+ other Shiva temples are location in India from Kedarnath to Rameswaram (for more info on this: see here)
About the temple project:
- The temple will serve as a space for practicing sadhana and connecting with the divine
- The primary deity of this temple will be Lord Shiva in the form of Nataraja along with his consort, Parvati in the form of Siva Kama Sundari
- The temple will have 15 Shiv lings of different materials including spatik, shaligram, Maragadham, Narmadeshwar and stone (this was a divine instruction to have 15 shiv lings as there are 15 days in 1 paksha and each day we will do abhishekam for 1 shivling and in one paksha we will complete all shivlings and repeat this process the next paksha)
- The temple will also have dedicated shrines for the following deities: Dakshinamurthi, Kala Bhairav, Yoga Narasimhar along with Hanuman and Garuda, Maha Meru peetam, 4 out of Nayanmars, Agasthaya Muni along with his consort Lopa Mudra, Maha avatar Babaji, Rishi Pathanjali, Yoga Ganapathi and Palani Murugan, Durga in the form of 18 handed Mahishasura Mardhini
About the activities of the temple:
Daily:
- Every day Shiv ling abhishekam and sadhana
- Every day yoga and kriya sadhana
- Daily stotrams and japa throughout the day
- Daily personal sadhana
- Daily arati, flower decorations to all deities
Monthly:
- Ganesh abhishekam and sadhana on Sankata Hara Chathurthi
- Murugan abhishekam and sadhana on Skanda Shashti
- Narasimhar & shaligram abhishekam and sadhana on Ekadashi
- Dakshinamurthi abhishekam and sadhana on Thursdays
- Kala Bhairav abhishekam and sadhana on Krishna paksha ashtami
- Durga devi abhishek and Durga sadhana on every Durga Ashtami
- Pradosh Kala puja for Shiva along with special abhishekam
- Maha Meru puja and abhishekam on Purnima
- Narasimhar sadhana on Swati nakshatra
Occasional:
- Natarajar and Parvati devi abhishekam on special days
- Maha avatar babaji abhishekam and puja on special days
Where we are with the project:
- Acquisition and registration of the land --> complete
- Construction --> in progress (Funds already allocated and good)
- Temple deities ordered in Pancha Loham (a combination of 5 metals which are traditionally used in making temple idols) --> This is where we are stuck and need funding and this whole fund raiser is for this reason
What's the request?
- We have an estimated amount of $40,000 USD to make all the deities required for this temple in pure pancha loham
- Pancha loham is a combination of Gold, Silver, Copper, zinc and iron made in the traditional wax method which will take around 3 to 5 months to make it properly as per Shashtras
