Aaden's relapse of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Hi, I'm Kayla my son is Aaden Smith. I never thought we would be here again but here we are entering re-induction his cancer is back, a testicular relapse In December 12/20/2023 Aaden informed me of his testicle was swollen and was painful, being that he had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in the past, this is serious. The cells like to hid in the testicles and spinal cord. The medical team informed me that it was infection and everything was fine..... well they were wrong! 2 months later almost to the day 2/21/24 he is entering re-induction. His body has 28 days to get to .1%-0 or he will be going to Seattle Children's for a bone marrow transplant. If he does, he continues with a more intense chemo regimine than before, which could leave his sterile so he made the decision to bank his sperm. Tomorrow afternoon he's having a hickman line placed, biopsy of his testicle, bone marrow biopsy, spinal fluid biopsy and spinal ITMTX. We are looking at months in the hospital and multiple trips weekly to clinic for the immediate future. The money is going to go to gas back and forth, food so he doesn't have to eat the bland food and things to lift his spirits. He is only 14 and this is his second go of this, another 2 1/2 years of treatment. 9 months of Frontline and the rest will be maintenance. No kid should have to go through this ever!!!
