My name is Lindsay, and I am raising funds to help cover the costs associated with an AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) device for John Littler. Many of you know John as a doctor, a teacher, a mentor, a colleague, a bandmate, and a friend. To me, he is Dad. Anyone who knows my dad would agree that he is one of a kind. He has impacted so many and, as one friend writes, has "made such a huge difference in the human condition." In March 2023, my dad was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, a rare and aggressive brain cancer that has severely limited use of his right side and his ability to speak, effectively eliminating his means of communicating. An AAC device would allow my dad to communicate again and greatly decrease the frustration that comes from having to keep all his trademark wit to himself :) Unfortunately, because my dad is enrolled in hospice care, insurance will not cover the cost of an AAC device, and the out of pocket expenses associated with the device are steep. We would love to be able to get this device for him to help ease the challenges he is facing in the next few months and give back to him in some small way for all he has done for so many. Any amount helps, and all funds raised will be used to purchase the device. In the event that the goal is met, any additional funds will go towards other expenses related to his care.
