Dear Friends, Family, and all those who find this,

The month of Ramadan, when Muslims across the world fast from sunrise to sundown, has begun. At the end of this month, we will celebrate Eid with visits to family and friends, with lots of food and gifts.  In each of the past few years, I have raised, through your contributions, a pot of money to purchase essential food staples to be distributed to families in dire need.  The staples allow these families to participate in the celebration that brings the month of Ramadan to a close and gives them food that carries them through the next couple of months, as well.

In 2018, we raised $1,300 and distributed goods to eight families.  In 2019, we raised $1,030 and were able to distribute food to ten families and give them cash to buy new clothes for their children. Thank you to all of you who have made this possible and here is a link to the update from the families who benefited from your donations in 2018  and in 2019.

COVID-19 has made this an especially difficult year for all of us.  In Afghanistan, the government has distributed a kilo of wheat to some households to substitute for the loss of income families have suffered. This by no means is sufficient.


If you have ever fasted, you know how hard it is to not eat; the families listed below do not have the option to fast or not, they have to fast every day. Please consider contributing to this cause and help these families bring food to their tables and celebrate Eid.

Note: Hafizullah’s brother can not afford his medicine. The villagers have discussed killing Hafizullah as he becomes extremely violent (hurting women and children) when he is not on medicine. We will buy his one-year medicine supply with this donation.

Note: Her husband has two wives. He has moved in with his other wife and doesn’t have any relationship with Zulikha or his children.

Note: Gul Chaman and her 13-year-old daughter were forced out of her house when her husband brought another wife home. She now lives with her brother and is working hard to get her daughter to school.

Unlike other years’ programs, I was not able to collect all the videos from the families as all of them do not have phones and other people can not visit them to record the videos. We will try to get photos/videos when distributing the packages.

We are hoping to raise this fund in two weeks so the families can use this during Ramadan. Once, I have received the money; I will send it to my mom (Nadira Daqiq) via Western Union. She will buy all the products in bulk and hire a driver to deliver the products in each house.
