Hello. My name is Merle. For 24 years, I've been a truck driver. Early this year, I started dealing with some back pain. The pain started running down my left arm into my hand. Numbness then set in, and my strength decreased in the same hand. In May, I was diagnosed with a bulging disc and also have degenerative disc disease with arthritis and bone spurs. On June 19th, I underwent a discectomy and fusion on C6-C7. I have been off work since June 18th with no income and no short-term disability. In July, I was experiencing lightheadedness and actually passed out once. I went to the ER on July 13th thinking it was related to my surgery. After having a chest scan, they found severe coronary calcification. On sept 5th I had a heart cath done. They found I had several blockages with one artery at 100%, two others at 90% and 70%. On September 19th I had triple bypass surgery. I finally came home after 7 nights post op. on 9/26. In the meantime, my company has been paying my insurance that will end on 9/30. I will have several rehab and follow up appointments to get me back on my feet and back to work. I am hoping I can continue with a COBRA plan until I'm recovered from open-heart surgery. With no income, it has been very difficult making it on my wife's income from Walmart. Any help would be appreciated.
