If you haven’t heard already, my sister and her family have been going through so much lately.   Eden, my niece, was admitted to the hospital on her 6th birthday this past February after experiencing difficulty using the left side of her body, and things have been a whirlwind ever since.  After two MRIs, it was determined she had a stroke a few weeks prior to that, but the cause is still unknown. She continues to struggle with contracture and spasticity.  Watching her try to use her left hand will break your heart. But she is a trooper and continues to work hard and smile her way through it.  She currently goes to physical therapy multiple times a week and has been fitted for various braces.  She will have PT and OT in Brandon, July 22-August 8, 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. There are future plans for Botox, but it is very costly. There is also the possibility of a trip to a children’s hospital in Philadelphia.  Expenses have already added up with all the testing, the hospital stay, the therapy. But in addition to the costs, Katelyn and Mike have missed a lot of work and will miss even more with the upcoming therapy in Bradenton, not to mention travel expenses.

As if this wasn’t enough, Katelyn just found out she has an 8cm cyst on her right ovary. Surgery needs to be done quickly, but they already have so much going on with Eden, plus they aren’t sure if it will require a small incision or large, possibly removing the right ovary.  This will not only be expensive but will also require more work to be missed.

Needless to say, times are hard right now, but we serve a big God.  His hand is in all of this already.  For example, Eden’s therapy was going to cause her to miss the first weeks of school, but a spot opened up right in time for her to be able to start on time. We also know both of these situations are awful but could be so much worse, praise Jesus.  We believe God will continue to take care of and provide for this sweet family, and He may choose to use you to do just that. A lot of times, people ask how they can help, and they genuinely want to, but they don’t know how. Well, here’s your how. If you can help financially in any way and feel led to do so, please do. It will help them in so many ways, not just financially, but also as encouragement to know they have a support group during this time and to serve as a reminder that God really is in control of it all.  Fincances should be the last thing they have to worry about right now. Also, please keep all of them in your prayers during this time!! Thank you all, and God bless you for your generosity.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
