As many of you may know, on September 22nd, 2025, my nine-year-old daughter and boyfriend Billy were riding our Harley motorcycle as they did almost every Monday. Unfortunately, they were hit by a driver who was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. This was no accident. It was a life-changing event for my family that we will spend a long time navigating through.
When the "accident" occurred, Billy was run over by the pickup twice, as the person who hit them initially backed up and got him a second time. This caused substantial injuries to his extremities that require tedious surgeries to piece together bones, repair muscles, remove road debris, and place hardware to stabilize the broken bones.
My nine-year-old daughter also suffered a broken femur and a broken tibia, resulting in a 4-hour surgery to put the bones in place along with the hardware to stabilize everything. She also needed a blood transfusion as she became very anemic.
Billy was our only income, as I am 21 weeks pregnant and a high-risk pregnancy at that. I can't work, or I would. Mayzee needs full-time care for the next month or so. I am needed. He is looking at being in the hospital for at least a few weeks up to a month before he can come home, depending on progress and healing. After that, he is looking at being out of work for at least 4-6+ months.
To be honest, the timing of everything is terrible. He just started his new job on August 20th; therefore, he had no insurance, but I'm working on that. We will struggle financially with all of the upcoming medical costs, medical equipment, and basic living costs: rent, phone bill, electric, etc. Basically, just trying to survive moving forward while we try to find normalcy.
Sorry for the long read, but I need people to know this is very serious as we never ask for help. But we have no choice. We are vulnerable. We have to put our pride aside as we need it now more than ever. Any amount adds up and is truly appreciated. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you from my little family.
