Help Captain Dickie find Finale
Donation protected
48 foot live aboard Finale was blown off course due to engine failure on her way to Rio Dulce, Guatemala on January 21st.
Two of Dickies closest friends were recused by the Mexican Coast Guard at 9pm in 8 ft seas.
At the time there was a window that we believed the boat would be retrieved and towed, however severe weather halted those efforts. Captain Dickie spent four days drifting in the Gulf of Mexico.
When the inreach communication died and weather continued to decline the U.S. Coast Guard did a water rescue on January 24th. The boat could not be towed and search efforts have been halted by high seas and wind off the coast of Key West.
Reunion in Key West:
Finale is Captain Dickies home - everything he owns. The boat is uninsured along with all his belongings so these funds will aid in:
- Search & retrieval costs
- Marina slip for preliminary clean up and repair
- Assistance with fuel and provisions such as food and critical equipment replacement
We celebrate the health and safety of Captain Dickie and his dear friends. He still needs help to sail into the sunset once again.
If Finale is found the salvage efforts will not be easy. If his home is not located or salvageable he has to completely rebuild with nothing.
If you know Captain Dickie you know his passion for this dream, his love of the ocean and the maritime community. Our genuinely kind, caring and hospitable captain still needs our help. Please consider donating to help Captain Dickie recover his boat and his quality of life as this has been and will continue to be a trying time for him.
He would help each of us if we were in a difficult situation without thinking twice. Let's do the same for him.
-Sail ye well
