My brother Bruce, age 55,  was recently diagnosed with a mass in his neck and a severely broken neck.  It all started with severe neck pain, to the point of tears, and was initially diagnosed as muscle spasms.  It was later determined that there was a mass in his neck and a hairline fracture of the neck.  After continued severe pain and multiple tests a radiologist sent him to John's Hopkins in Baltimore where he was found to have a severely broken neck and was in need of immediate surgery during which a metal plate was put in to repair his broken neck.  He has no idea how he broke his neck,  he did fall one day and landed hard on his butt, I have to wonder if the mass in his neck had weakened the bone and the downward force on his neck was enough to break it.  The mass has now been determined to be cancerous and the doctors felt that cancer must have started elsewhere in his body.  After much searching 2 small spots of cancer were found on his liver.

He is now recovering from the surgery, pain has continued to be an issue for him, and soon will start radiation treatments in Baltimore which is a 1 hour plus drive one way for he and his wife.  Bruce will no longer be able to work, both he and his wife have been hardworking blue collar workers and have raised two boys one of which is still in high school.  And as if they have not had enough recent troubles their oldest son was recently in an auto accident having suffered a seizure while driving.  he is fine and only minor damage to his vehicle but an unneeded scare for the family at this time.

Funds raised will be used to help with uncovered medical expenses, transportation costs for treatments, and general living expenses for the family.  Bruce cannot work and his wife has been missing a lot of work while getting Bruce to doctors appointments, he cannot drive due to his pain medications and current health condition.
