A Plea For Hope
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
This is more of a plea than a simple fundraiser. While some of you may have an idea of what’s been going on the last few months (and even year and a half), no one has any idea of the details of which I prefer to keep hidden.
What I can say is I have been having a hard time functioning due to PTSD and while my blood sugars are controlled - they have been going up and down in an extreme way due to stress.
In accordance to the recommendation of the Medical team in charge of my care, I am in the process of training Hope to be a service dog. She will learn to be a Diabetes Alert dog and also learn to perform Deep Pressure Therapy. These trainings can cost anywhere from $15,000-$30,000.
After researching grants, having adoption fees waived, and finding a trainer who will train Hope to match the my needs, I am left with $5,000 that will be out of pocket.
So far things have been working out in ways I have never expected and I am truly grateful for the support that I thought I didn’t have.
This is just one obstacle I need to overcome or door of opportunity to open up.
If you are unable to donate, I totally understand. Sharing and getting the word out will be just as effective in finding those that can.
With a sincere need for Hope,
Sky
Ps: Here is a poem from a Facebook group Service Dog Express, written by a client named Christina who suffers from PTSD.
"Serve & To Love
I promise you will be more than just one to serve
More than a pet, my companion and forever friend.
You see, I hear you are special, an angel even that of a hero.
I have heard the stories of the Courage you possess.
To serve and protect a life, that of your sister,
Even To your own possible demise.
I also see the beauty in your face and the
Exuberance for life that radiates from within you.
Grateful for your strength, loyalty and for
Any service or help you can provide me.
You see, I am in need of your company
To guide, serve, protect, and just love me.
We share a bond already you and me
To persevere was a life lesson we
both chose to learn, to carry on, and to live.
I will admit I am struggling. I am scared
and even weak. I need you my strong and
courageous friend. I need more than just one to
serve, more than a pet. I need you, my companion,
my forever friend.
I hope we choose to persevere and be happy together.
You be my courage and strength when I am
weak and I will always love and care for you.
Lifelong companions, forever friends.
Until we meet…"

Sky
