We are FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team 10355, also known as “Project Peacock.” We are one of four FTC teams supported by S.T.E.A.M. Post 26 and based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our team includes kids from 8th through 12th grade, has competed for seven seasons, and has previously qualified for the World Championship. We collaborate as a team each season to design and build a robot from the ground up. Our team of students completely builds the robot, from 3-D printing our chassis, soldering electrical components, to programming the robot to operate autonomously. This season we were pleased to receive the Design Award at several competitions.
FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a robotics community that prepares young people for the future through a suite of inclusive, team-based robotics programs. FTC participants also develop skills in teamwork, problem solving, and communication. This prepares us for success in school and the workforce, no matter what path we take.
Project Peacock devotes many hours per week as a team to design, build, and practice for competitions. We also spend time each week on team building, which is an important component of the FIRST program. Our robot is designed to complete tasks that are specific for the competition for a particular season (see YouTube video for a sample competition https://youtu.be/ZkWeCAAWrWQ).
Project Peacock has been invited to compete in the Chicago Robotics Invitational. This is a great opportunity for our team to compete against the best teams from around the WORLD! We’re asking for your support, so please contribute to help get us there, all funds will be used for travel, lodging, registration fees, and dining. Any amount will be greatly appreciated, and thank you for taking the time to learn about FIRST!
