When you start a gofundme account, you are asked to tell your story. Our story is about Mike Ell. If you know Mike, you know there is nobody else on this planet like him. He's truly one of a kind. He's a wonderful father to his awesome son Casey. He's a caring husband to his wife Sara. He's a son, brother, uncle, He's a friend. He has pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer sucks. Well, to be fair, ALL cancer sucks, but seeing as this is Mike's post, we'll focus on his battle.
Mike E vs Pancreatic C Team Mike!
Mike was diagnosed in August of 2014 and has been valiantly fighting the good fight. Through multiple chemo attempts and hospital stays he has had his ups and downs, his good days and bad days. Shortly before he was diagnosed, he was saving up money to start his own business working on vehicles doing body work and paint jobs. Then cancer struck, chemo started and bills added up. He is unable to work but thankfully Sara has been able to work through it. Her company has great insurance and has been very supportive. Recently, their income took another hit as Sara had to take 6+ weeks off of work to recover from elbow surgery. Times are tough. They stay strong. They have their son Casey to stay strong for. Casey is a smart, sassy, silly, spirited 7 year old. He is their world.
Having said all that... if you know Mike, you know he is a crazy, generous, family oriented, loud mouthed, hockey loving, pheasant hunting, 18 hole golfing, always good for a cold Coors Light kind of guy. You might be allowed to watch a Wild Game with him, but you are not allowed to talk while it is on! He will give you the shirt off his back (but honestly, who'd want his shirt?) He will help you fix your car, your motorcycle, your wood burning stove, your boat, your 4 wheeler, your snowmobile or pretty much anything he can get dirty fixing. He's quick with the smack talk, he's obnoxious, funny, and he is fiercely loyal. If you know him, you're one of the fortunate ones.
We are asking you to help our friend. He means so much to so many people. He and Sara are proud, self- sufficient people who have struggled through this horrible disease without complaint. Chemotherapy is expensive. Hospital stays are expensive. Prescriptions are expensive. Cancer is expensive. Even with good insurance they are struggling with the checkbook and they have never asked for help. People have been asking what can they do to assist them in any way. You can help in many ways, but today we are asking that you help them financially. By donating whatever you can spare. Every amount helps.
Times are tough on everyone. Everyone is fighting a battle of some kind, but if you could see it in your heart to make a donation, it will have a large impact on their lives.
If you cannot donate, we understand but please keep Casey's dad, Sara's husband, our friend Mike in your prayers.
TEAM MIKE!
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
