As you all know, Derek has an undescribable love and passion for the outdoors.  Unfortunately, on 9/29/14, Derek had an accident while doing what he loves most....hunting.  The accident has left Derek with 5 broken ribs, a gnarly gash (now stiched up) on his forehead, a broken pelvic bone, and he also broke his neck in two places.  He had his first surgery on his neck yesterday, 9/30/14 and will have another tomorrow, 10/2/14 on another part of his neck.  Derek has a very long road of recovery ahead; however, he is not afraid.  This puts a big smile on all of our faces as we know Derek is a fighter.  I couldn't be more honored to call him my brother.  As his sister, I know I can speak for everyone in saying we can't thank God enough that he is still here with us.  Most importantly, Derek will overcome this.  Unfortunately things will not change over night, but Derek is ready to only improve from here.

Myself, my Dad & Mom (Nate & Tammy), and of course Derek cannot even begin to explain how greatful we are for everyone's love & support throughout this crazy time.  He has an unbelievable group of guys that i've met this week--thank you guys for being such great friends.  Also--A special thank you to Derek's work, Excel Energy for stopping by to check up on him.  It warms our hearts to know Derek has more family out here than anyone could have imagined.
