Jacob's Road To Recovery
Donation protected
On September 16, 2023 three year old Jacob Quinones suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury while enjoying morning barn chores with his maternal grandmother. Jacob and his parents, Christine and Raul Quinones, had been living with his grandparents in their Hampden, MA home while their dream house was being built just around the corner. The day the family was meant to move in to their new home turned out to be one of the most tragic days of the family’s lives.
Jacob was struck in the head accidentally by one of the horses and was airlifted to Baystate Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts where he underwent a two separate emergency Craniectomies: one to remove bone from a skull fracture and the second relieve the pressure and a blood clot on the brain. Jacob was then placed in a heavily sedated unconscious state.
After almost 2 weeks Jacob was slowly brought out of sedation and after he was fully conscious and medically cleared by his doctors, he then made his journey by ambulance transport to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlestown Massachusetts where he began Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy to help with disabilities resulting from the accident. He has made several medical transports back and forth to Baystate Hospital for additional required medical procedures and will require continued therapy once he returns to his life back at home. His parents, Christine and Raul, have put their jobs and their lives on hold and have remained by Jacobs side.
This campaign has been setup by Christopher and Susan Fontaine his grandparents. to help with all unpaid medical expenses and support his family needs following this tragic event.
Jacob is currently at Connecticut children’s hospital in Hartford Connecticut. He had to have a procedure done to help with the healing of a wound due to the accident. There is no date for him to return to the Spaulding clinic in Boston but we are hopeful that will be soon.
