No Bruises Short Film

“No Bruises” is a narrative short film that explores the cyclical nature of emotional abuse, played out in vignette-style glimpses into one man’s relationships with three different women over time.

Written, Directed, and Produced by Emma Powell & Jennifer Vega, “No Bruises” is currently in pre-production and is set to film in January of 2023. We have been incredibly fortunate to put together an awesome cast and crew of talented and ambitious individuals who, like us, are eager to begin their careers in the film industry. They have all been working extremely hard and we are so humbled that they believe in the purpose of this project enough to dedicate their time to it for credit only.

Today, we are aking for your support to help put “No Bruises” out into the world once post-production is finished and to show our appreciation to the cast and crew. Specifically, the raised funds will be used for festival application fees, production essentials such as craft services, props, etc., and most importantly, if we hit our goal, we would love to be able to pay our cast and crew.

The subject matter covered in this film is very close to both of us, as well as many of our loved ones. Since we started pre-production, we’ve had family, friends, and acquaintances express that they have gone through similar experiences to the women in the film. According to a study done by the American Psychological Association, 80% of Americans experience emotional abuse at some point in their lives. Despite its prevalence, the insidious complexity of the trauma suffered by victims of emotional abuse often leads to feelings of extreme isolation. We believe that emotional abuse is something that needs to be talked about and we hope, that with this film, we will be able to reach out to those who may be struggling and let them know they are not alone.

They will help bring the work of so many talented artists to audiences all over the world, as well as bring representation to victims of emotional abuse.
