My father dreamt of a simple life: Moving back to California, spending more time with my sister and me, fishing without being bothered, and traveling the coast. In his spare time, he enjoyed peaceful drives, smelling flowers, watching sunsets, riding his bike, or getting a catch of the day at his favourite spot by the lake. He was such a movie fanatic: always going to see the latest action movies or staying up late watching old kung-fu movies. Like many others, he was a huge foodie--but loved indulging his sweet tooth most.
On the afternoon of July 8th, I received a call from my grandmother pleading for me to check on my father; he missed their daily call, which was uncharacteristic of him. After not being able to reach him myself, I phoned his job only to learn that he had passed in his sleep--a man who regularly visited the doctor and maintained his diabetes well, showed no symptoms of the blocked artery that would take his life that night.
As a gift for his birthday, my sister and I would love to finally welcome him back to San Francisco. Through his life and his continual actions, he has given me the gift of believing that anyone could truly change for the better. He was adored by many and will be sorely missed.
At this time, we are accepting any amount of donations so that we can bring him home and send him off properly.
