Daisy

It breaks our hearts to share that we have said goodbye to our beautiful Daisy.

After everything she had already been through, Daisy needed a third surgery. The vet bills had already reached £5,000, and sadly there were no guarantees that further treatment would give her the quality of life she deserved. The kindest thing we could do was let her go peacefully.

We’re devastated by the loss of our girl and are still facing the veterinary costs from her treatment. If anyone would like to support us, we would be incredibly grateful. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing.

We also hope Daisy’s story raises awareness about the importance of responsible breeding. No family should have to go through this heartbreak, and no dog should suffer from preventable health issues & insurance support.

Thank you to everyone who loved, supported, and followed Daisy’s journey. We will miss her every day. ❤️
———————————————————————
On Sunday 7th June, I collected my new puppy, Daisy, after carrying out extensive research and carefully selecting what I believed to be the most suitable breed and breeder for my circumstances.
I was incredibly excited to bring her home and begin our life together. After spending so much time preparing for her arrival, I never imagined that within days we would be facing such a serious and distressing situation.
The following day, Monday 8th June, Daisy developed severe diarrhoea. Initially, I assumed this was due to the change in environment, routine, and food, which can be common in young puppies.
By Wednesday, I was becoming increasingly concerned and took Daisy to the vet for an examination. At that stage, I was advised to purchase a prebiotic paste from Pets at Home to help settle her stomach.
Unfortunately, by Friday there had been no improvement. Daisy’s condition had deteriorated significantly. Seeing such a young puppy so unwell was heartbreaking. She was struggling to stay awake, refusing food, and had begun passing blood.
As any responsible and caring pet owner would, I took her straight back to the veterinary practice.
She was immediately assessed and tested for Parvovirus, which thankfully returned a negative result. However, the veterinary team noted that Daisy was experiencing significant abdominal pain and sensitivity. They advised that she would need to be sedated so they could carry out further scans to investigate the cause.
The scans revealed that Daisy had a twisted colon, requiring emergency surgery. The veterinary team advised that this was not a condition that would have developed overnight and would likely have been present prior to my collecting her.
Hearing this news was devastating. Daisy underwent emergency surgery, which lasted approximately one and a half hours. Following the operation, she was transferred to the animal hospital for overnight monitoring and ongoing care, where she remains at present.
Although Daisy is insured under my own policy, the insurer has declined to cover the claim due to the condition arising so soon after the policy commenced.
Daisy is Kennel Club registered and was sold with five weeks’ free insurance. However, I have since discovered that the breeder failed to activate this insurance prior to her collection.
As a result, I have been left facing substantial veterinary costs for a serious medical condition that became apparent almost immediately after bringing Daisy home. More importantly, what should have been a joyful first week with my new puppy has instead been filled with worry, fear, and uncertainty as I focus on helping Daisy recover and giving her the care she desperately needs.

Current vets bills are at £2k
