Help My Mom Beat Breast Cancer

Dear friends my name is Keyla, I’m currently in my second year of college. I needed to create this campaign, let me tell you our story:


My mom is one of the strongest person I know, she immigrated in 2008 to the United States from Bolivia to provide better opportunities for myself. She left her family and adapted to an entirely new country and language. In 2013 we were blessed with my little brother, throughout that year she had to deal with a horrible marriage and process of divorce. And in order to keep us safe, she made the decision to leave everything once again and move across the country to start a better life for us. She didn’t know anybody and didn’t have any support. She’s been working low paying jobs with flexible hours and was able to graduate with her associate's degree in the paralegal field while raising a 2-year-old and a teenager. Finally, she got a decent job with fair pay and everything seemed like it would be okay and things were looking up. Then a month ago her office decided to close and terminate all their employees which were then followed by her diagnosis of breast cancer. What they originally had diagnosed as stage 1 on her right breast after surgery turned out to be more advanced reaching the sentinel nodes classifying it as stage 2.  Although she has had the surgery to remove them, it is just the beginning of her long battle. She now may be looking at least 9 months of radiology and chemotherapy which will impede her from working and maintaining our household. I have started working a second job in order to help with the financial situation but with all of the treatments and bills, it still is not enough. Being a single parent our savings will not last long and will not be enough to cover then rent and house expenses for mare than 45 days.  I wish to raise any amount of money possible in order to help pay for our expenses and allow my mom to focus solely on her health. It will be a long journey when the treatment starts because on top of my 2 jobs I will have to take care of my little brother and my beloved mom. Any donation will be eternally appreciated.



Queridos amigos, mi nombre es Keyla, actualmente estoy en mi segundo año de universidad, déjame contarte nuestra historia:


Mi mami es una de las personas más fuertes que conozco, emigró el 2008 a los Estados Unidos desde Bolivia para brindarme mejores oportunidades. Ella dejó a su familia y se adaptó a un país y un idioma completamente nuevos. En 2013 fuimos bendecidos con mi hermano pequeño, durante todo ese año tuvo que lidiar con un horrible matrimonio y un proceso de divorcio. Y para mantenernos a salvo, ella tomó la decisión de dejar todo nuevamente y mudarse al sur de la Florida en 2014, para comenzar una vida mejor para nosotros, ella no conocía a nadie y no tenía ningún apoyo, ella estubo trabajando en empleos mal pagados con horarios flexibles y pudo graduarse con su título de asociado en el campo paralegal, mientras criaba a un niño de 2 años y una adolescente. Finalmente, consiguió un buen trabajo con un salario justo y todo parecía estar bien, las cosas estaban mejorando, pero hace un mes, su oficina decidió cerrar y despedir a todos sus empleados, desafortunadamente despues mi adorada mami fue diagnóstida con cáncer de mama, lo que originalmente había sido diagnosticado como etapa 1 en su seno derecho, después de la cirugía resultó ser más avanzado llegando al ganglio linfatico clasificándolo como etapa 2. Aunque se sometió a la cirugía para extirparlos, es solo el comienzo de su larga batalla. Ahora puede estar buscando al menos 9 meses de radiología y quimioterapia, lo que le impedirá trabajar y mantener nuestro hogar. He comenzado a trabajar en un segundo empleo para ayudar con la situación financiera, pero con todos los tratamientos y facturas, todavía no es suficiente. Al ser una madre soltera, nuestros ahorros no durarán mucho y no serán suficientes para cubrir los gastos de alquiler y vivienda por más de 45 días. Deseo recaudar cualquier cantidad de dinero posible para ayudar a pagar nuestros gastos y permitir que mi mami se concentre únicamente en su salud. Será un largo viaje cuando comience el tratamiento, porque además de mis 2 trabajos tendré que cuidar a mi hermano pequeño y a mi querida mami. Cualquier donación será eternamente agradecida.
