Help me get new glasses

So, it happens that I am most unfortunately in desperate need of a new pair of glasses.
My current pair, while still vaguely serviceable, has a prescription far enough out of date that I'm starting to develop debilitating migraines, and within the past few months, the frame has started falling to bits so they're rapidly becoming unwearable. I do have contact lenses at the moment (more on this later), and for the time being I have got a new frame on order, but it's currently lost in transit and honestly, it doesn't look like I'll ever receive it.
Having as strong a prescription as I do - I've been in glasses since I was five years old, I'm considered legally blind without them, and there's absolutely no way my crap insurance would cover even a cent of it (I've argued with them over this very thing) - my glasses cost roughly $850 a pair, since I have to pay for them entirely out of pocket. I'd really like to get a new pair, so I don't have to deal with the new frame (if it ever gets here) falling apart on me in the future, and I can't be in contacts 24/7/365 - I absolutely require glasses as a backup, since I have macular hemorrhages that require regular injections into my eyes, and I can't wear lenses for a few days after having an injection.
Ideally I'd like to have a new pair by the end of the year, if at all possible; it'll take anywhere from two weeks to a month to come in, and the sooner I can get started on ordering new glasses and having them made, the better.
