Miklos has had a passion for the sport of badminton since the age of 11. It was not until the age of 14 that he really wanted to start training and competing at a national level. Having a 2 person "club" was never a set back for him and his coach, Gary Macdougall. His first major result was making it to the semi-final stage of the junior national championships in Winnipeg in 2015. 2016 was a more challenging year as it was his first year competing in the u19 catagorie. He was still able to see good results, making the semi finals of both the Toronto Junior Elite and the Moncton Junior elite in singles and mixed doubles. Although the 2016 Junior National championships came as a disapointement, there was the season to come. In the 2016-2017 season, Miklos was consistently making quarter and semi finals at Junior Elite series tournaments but could never breakthrough to a final or title. A huge breakthrough came at the 2017 Junior National Championships as he was able to make the boys singles u19 final, qualifying him for the Junior pan am games 2017. He was chosen to represent Canada in boys singles, mixed doubles as well as the team event.
The pan am games will not be a cheap event as the team fee was increased to $1500. On top of the team fee, athletes are required to pay their own flights, food and hotel costs. Being a team member also requires the athlete to attend a training camp, I will be traveling to montreal before the games. Any donations will help Miklos be a part of team Canada and represent Canada and Nova Scotia on an international stage. All donationas are greatly appreciated.
