Chris Pearson and his wife, Maria, welcomed their first baby girl, Nia Marley Pearson, to the world earlier this week. She was born happy and healthy and is already bringing tons of love and joy to her parents and family, which is needed now more than ever.

As some of you may be aware, Maria was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer a few weeks ago while carrying Baby Nia. So today, Chris and Maria are simultaneously faced with both the most exciting and terrifying moments of their lives – they are getting to know and care for their sweet baby Nia while also preparing to become full-time cancer fighters.  

 As Maria begins the process of healing from childbirth, she is also preparing for a double mastectomy and several rounds of chemotherapy to help save her life.

 No stranger to cancer, Maria’s mother died of breast cancer when Maria was just nine years old.  Doctors remain optimistic, however, the combination of surgery and chemo, immediately following Maria’s excruciating 48 hours of labor and delivery, will undoubtedly leave Maria feeling exhausted and very sick for the foreseeable future. While Chris can and will take off as much time as possible (a few weeks there and there), sufficiently caring for both his wife and newborn by himself will be a near impossible task.

 To help them through this unimaginably difficult time friends and family of the Pearson's are creating a fund to cover the costs of additional care and support for baby Nia and Maria.  Anything you can do to help this growing family, will be truly valued and allow them to heal and move forward during this extremely challenging time.
