My wife and I are having a very bumpy road financially. We were devastated after she was laid off in August of 2023 and unable to find work for a year. Throughout that year, we ran through our savings, borrowed and received assistance from friends. Last September, she found a good paying job and we found some stability. We thought we'd turned a corner towards the end of 2024 when we caught up on bills and started putting money aside. We even got married.

Unfortunately, in April 2025, wife was laid off. After trying unsuccessfully to find a new job and with her unemployment quickly running out, she decided to retire when she reached the minimum retirement age. I also looked for a job and so far, have only received rejections.

Recently, I have lost my healthcare insurance and SNAP benefits. With the changes to the ACA subsidies, we cannot afford any of the plans on the marketplace. I make and sell jewelry which brings in a little money but not enough to cover medical expenses. I have a number of chronic conditions that need management.

So we still need a helping hand.

Funds received will go towards paying monthly expenses: copays for medical visits and prescriptions, pet supplies (2 cats and a parrot).
